The farmers grow the coffee. These farmers then partner with them to arrange for processing, export, import, roasting, marketing and distribution. Some of this they do, some of it they get accomplished through their partners, who you can meet online. Farmers are paid at local standard market rates for their coffee (not the lower rates offered by middlemen who go from field to field).

The farmer pay is based on the final consumer-end mark-up.* This allows farmers putting in the extra effort to make quality coffee to realize the fruits (yes, coffee is a fruit) of their labor.

10% of their profits allegdly goes toward:

Training and education in sustainable farming and quality improvement

The ability to represent their coffee overseas, and take control of their coffee by turning family farms into real businesses

Funding for community projects (actually, our customers and drinkers do most of that…our registered nonprofit just helps to process the donations so they can take the credit)

13 months of sunshine

The movie:
"13 Months of Sunshine has taken over three years to create, with the bulk of shooting taking place on weekends and during the week when the actors' schedules allowed. After roughly 60% of the film had been shot capturing and editing began. Director Yehdego Abeselom and Editor Jeremiah Lewis would work nights, compiling scenes in Adobe Premiere Pro. This took another nine months, during which the rest of the film was shot and then edited together."
